The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a medium-sized Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). At first it was also known as the Mitsubishi Challenger, but this name has not been used since the third generation and they have completely switched to the Pajero Sport.
Pajero Sport Mk I
The first generation of Pajero Sport is based on the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up of the same year and contained many of the same components. It was built on the second generation Pajero chassis and served as the junior version of the largest Pajero.
Pajero Sport Mk II
The second generation vehicle based on the chassis of the Mitsubishi L200 was gradually introduced in certain markets (Russia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East) until the autumn of 2008, following its debut at the Moscow International Motorshow. The design came with a 2.5 or 3.2 litre diesel engine and 3.0 or 3.5 litre V6, while interior configurations with five or seven seats are available. The production of Pajero Sport MK2 for all markets took place in Thailand.
On 1 August 2015 Mitsubishi Motors unveiled the third generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in Thailand. This is marketed as a model for 2016 and is powered by the new 2,4 liter MIVEC 4N15 engine, among others. Since the third generation was unveiled, the name Mitsubishi Challenger is no longer used, but that of Pajero Sport / Montero Sport.
